Baby Remington's Birth Story | Brook + John | 2023

In the heart of the birthing room, where time dances on the edge of eternity, I found myself immersed in a symphony of emotions — from the profound joy of capturing a family's most vulnerable state to the pride of stepping into the sacred realm of birth photography. As a storyteller, the journey into the birthing world became a tapestry of intimate moments, each thread woven into the beautiful narrative of a new life entering the world. It was more than just freezing moments in time; it was a gift of stopping time for a moment, allowing families to revisit the raw, unscripted beauty when their children are grown.

This particular journey, marked by Brooke's remarkable 44-hour labor (Yes. I said 44 whole hours), unfolded with twists and turns, reminding me that the world is indeed a beautiful place filled with the most raw and genuine moments. From the anticipation of the on-call weeks to the last-minute rushes to the hospital, every second held the weight of a lifetime. I didn't hesitate — I dove right in with the camera in hand, capturing whatever unfolded to tell their story. As Brooke held on for that perfect moment, it became clear that being there was not just a privilege but a purpose. Their faces, their testimonies, and the unfolding moments affirmed that in those sacred hours, I was exactly where I was meant to be.

Here is what Brooke had to say about her birth story experience...

When my Husband and I found out we were pregnant, we knew this would be our last baby. We decided to make this one our final addition. I knew that there were many things I wanted to do with this baby that I didn’t really have the opportunity for with my last one. I try to look back on my labor and delivery of my last child and I honestly can’t remember it. It’s a blur and I can’t remember the small moments I’m sure I had. I wanted to change that with this one. I knew what I wanted… I wanted pictures to capture every small moment in the delivery room. Only one person came to mind: Samantha.

She had been with me during my shy Boudoir shoots, watching me gain more and more confidence with every shoot, growing like a caterpillar into a butterfly. She captured those intimate moments and I wanted her to flip the script and capture a different kind of intimate moment. After seeing my pictures, even today, I can remember the delivery. I remember how supportive my husband was, I remember the laughter that filled the room when I asked for a cheeseburger, I remember the tears on faces when everyone could see her precious face being delivered… but I also got to experience watching my husband cut the cord and watching my doctor deliver her from start to finish, which that is something I couldn’t see first hand without Sam. If you decide to open your mind and want to capture the best moments of your life to remember it all, definitely trust in Sam. She will bring the raw images, with her touch of pizzazz to just make your heart burst in joy seeing it.
