For the last few years, I have considered some type of birth work, but didn't really know if it was up my alley. Until I had my own birth experience filled with the most supportive, love-filled environment, I never realized how beautiful birth could be. I knew I had to be more involved in a different way- a birth doula.
As an OT, I have learned how to specialize in supporting people during some of their most life changing experiences. I have watched babies learn to walk, interact, play, tie their shoes and meet so many more goals. I have loved cheering my Geri's (older patients) when they're able to cook for themselves or their family, another meal independently. I knew I could (and desperately wanted to) then further those skills to support families in one of their biggest life changing events, parenthood. I am so excited to start this new journey as a doula!
