Ok, hear me out!
When you think of boudoir, I can just about guarantee the first place your mind goes to is dressing up in some skimpy lingerie adorned with lacy details and flaunting your goods in front of a camera. But what if I told you lingerie isn't the only thing you can wear to your session? What if I told you, in some cases you don't even need to wear lingerie to give off the steamy, sexy vibes? As I tell all my clients when booking, "There is NO wrong way to boudoir" and I will stand by those words til the day I die.
So what else can you bring to your session?
Here is the first list in my series of "5 of my favorite things you can bring to your boudoir session (that ISN'T lingerie)".
1) High Heels
This should be a given! Every girl needs at least one pair of sexy high heels in their lifetime. Especially for times like this when they want to reward themselves with a sexy session as a step in their self-love journey.
Whether you are bringing a pair to go with your lingerie or wear alone, high heels have a few perks! When doing a standing pose, they instantly lift the booty and give it a rounder appearance. They also give the illusion of longer legs and help pop that little leg muscle out which looks so ahhh-mazing on camera.

2) Body Jewelry
Just like our everyday wear, jewelry adds a little extra spice to any outfit. Depending on the piece, it can completely change the vibe of a photo or setting. It can even help to convey certain emotions in your photos. For instance, someone who chooses a dangly necklace or earrings with stones or feathers may be trying to show off their carefree spirit while another lady wearing pearls or diamonds may be showing off their classiness.
Have fun finding all the pretties to compliment your vibe and boudoir attire!
Heres a tiny list of jewelry faves:
- Body Chains
- Long Necklaces
- ear cuffs
- chokers
- pearls
- dangle or stud earrings
3) Kimonos
Listen ya'll, I LOVE Kimonos. They are so loose, light weight and give me all the boho vibes. In normal wear, you can use them to dress up a drab outfit and they are the perfect piece for wearing out to date night. So how does that make them boudoir worthy? Well, for exactly those reasons. Kimonos are usually really thin and are similar to a robe but without the wrap. This makes them perfect for silhouettes or for adding a little slinkiness to your images. They can be worn with or without anything under.
I love to use them for clients who want to show a softer side to them. You can wear them alone or with a cute panty and bralette set underneath.
4) Cardigans
These are another favorite of mine. Think lazy day, messy bun and comfy! That's the vibes cardigans give when worn to a boudoir session. In fact, my very first session of my own was done in nothing but a cardigan. You can wear them alone or with a bra and panty set underneath. They look great when you're posed on a couch surrounded by pillows and blankets, on a window sill with a big coffee cup or in an unmade bed!
If all things comfy describe you then I highly recommend bringing a good cardigan along.
5) Knee High Socks
Another "chill" outfit accessory! I love when clients wear these with their oversized shirts, sweaters or cardigans. They even look great with the Calvin Cline branded panty and bra sets.
Knee highs are great for giving legs a longer appearance and if you're like me, they even appear slimmer on camera. Very flattering!
I hope this helps take the hard work out of finding the right thing to wear to your dream shoot. No matter what you choose, have fun doing so! If you booked your session, use this as an excuse for a much needed Girl's Day with your closest gal pals and go shopping for all the goods.
